British mezzo-soprano Angela Simkin is recognised for her warm, expressive tone and compelling stage presence. Based in Europe, she performs leading mezzo repertoire across opera, concert and recital, including Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly.
A former Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, she is currently developing new recital projects including Mythos & Melancholie.

Current and Upcoming Projects
Following her time as a Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House (2016–2018), Angela appeared in numerous productions at Covent Garden including Mlle Dangeville in Adriana Lecouvreur, the title role in Handel’s Oreste, Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Annina in Der Rosenkavalier conducted by Andris Nelsons, Tebaldo in Don Carlo conducted by Bertrand de Billy, Flora in La traviata, Mercédès in Carmen, and Flosshilde in Wagner’s Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung under Antonio Pappano.
From 2022 Angela was a member of the ensemble at Landestheater Linz where her roles included Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Orlovsky in Die Fledermaus, the title role in Handel’s Rinaldo, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Markus Poschner, Lola in Cavalleria rusticana, Edwige in Guillaume Tell, and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly.
In the current season she performs Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier at Landestheater Linz with the Bruckner Orchester Linz, makes her debut at the Bregenz Festival as Flora in La traviata, and appears in the premiere of Vanishing at Opéra de Massy featuring Növények by Thomas Adès.
Angela made her debut at The Grange Festival as Meg Page in Falstaff, returning for Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Phoebe Meryll in The Yeomen of the Guard.
In concert she has appeared with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as Siegrune in Die Walküre under Vladimir Jurowski and has performed with ensembles including The Mozartists and the London Handel Orchestra. She was most recently featured as gala soloist with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra at the New Year’s concert at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
